A one day accredited wildlife identification workshop

Gain practical skills in recognising Australian fauna while completing key components of the nationally recognised unit AHCFAU202 Recognise Fauna. Learn directly from qualified Wildlife College Australia trainers who specialise in safe, ethical and hands-on wildlife education in outdoor environments.

A fully funded opportunity for young people

Thanks to a Government grant delivered through Working 4 Wildlife Inc., this workshop is completely free for 10 participants. It is designed to support young people aged 14 to 24, including those from priority groups, who may not normally have access to accredited training during the school holidays.

What You’ll Learn and Experience

This workshop is designed to equip young people with practical, meaningful, field-ready wildlife knowledge while supporting pathways into conservation, volunteering or future study.

What is Included?

Accredited Training

Complete the nationally recognised unit AHCFAU202 Recognise Fauna with support from qualified assessors from Wildlife College Australia.

Hands On Fieldwork

Learn systematic wildlife identification, observation methods and basic record keeping through guided outdoor activities.

Assessment Support

Receive clear instructions and trainer guidance to complete simple take home tasks that finalise your competency requirements.

Safe and Inclusive

Work within a small, supportive group with a culturally inclusive approach and accessibility support for young people with disability or additional needs.

All Costs Covered

Training, materials, field resources, refreshments and insurance are fully funded at no cost to participants.

Fun and Social Learning

Connect with others your age, build teamwork skills and explore local natural environments with experienced educators.

Wildlife College Australia (WCA)

Wildlife College Australia is a registered training organisation dedicated to developing the next generation of wildlife carers, conservation workers and animal care professionals. WCA delivers nationally recognised training with a strong focus on practical skills, ethical wildlife handling and environmental awareness.

Working 4 Wildlife Inc.

Working 4 Wildlife Inc. is a not for profit organisation that supports wildlife care, rescue and conservation across the Central Coast. Their mission is to remove barriers to participation and create pathways for young people who want to contribute to the natural world. Through grant funding and partnerships, they ensure high quality training is accessible to those who need it most.

WHO IT’S FOR?

This workshop is designed for young people aged 14 to 24 who want to learn, explore and take part in meaningful wildlife education. It suits students, early school leavers, young people exploring conservation careers or anyone who wants to develop real environmental knowledge. Priority is offered to Aboriginal young people, young people who live with disability and those facing socio-economic barriers.
